Thursday July 6th:
"RMC BBQ"

Here's the sub-page for the BBQ.

If you've come to this page, chances are that you know what the bbq is - or perhaps that you were there.  If so - skip this section.

Just in case you're wondering what in the world an RMC is - well, this part is for you:

RMC stands for rec.music.christian.  It's a USENET community designed to discuss christian music.  We come from all over the world, and often find ourselves at Cornerstone.  Thus, many years ago, somebody organized a small get-together for shy net.friends to have lunch, play some games, and put faces to the names we so often read on the newsgroup.  There were silly games, CD exchanges, and even some awards.

In the past few years, the BBQ invite was expanded to include people from internet mailing and discussion lists.  But, the main crowd was still rmc regulars engaging in their inside jokes.  The menu changed - sandwiches are easier than grilling hamburgers.  The crowd changed - mostly not rmc.  Really, most of us who have once been involved at rmc have left, or decreased our activity as we've gotten older and our lives have changed.  Even so, most of us remain friends.

So, what you have here are pictures of a bunch of random people - but, some of them are dear friends of ours.

Jerry Ray, someone I don't know..., and Steve White.
Our hostesses, Lisa Reid and Trish Patterson:
Tidbits:

The event formerly known as RMC BBQ is held in the Phantom Tollbooth Tent.  This tent is typically located behind Encore II.  The Phantom Tollbooth is an on-line magazine, focusing on music and movies from a Christian perspective.  The tollbooth also has a weekly news column, maintained by Steve.

Next year, stop by the Tollbooth tent.  There's almost always somebody lurking around - you might even get to see me. :-)

Brian "the Minnesotan" and FuR
Trish and FuR
More bbq guests - including Titi.
Greg Grant and Linda LaFianza
One of the Georgia Tech Boys - Jeff Holland.
Glenn Harper (yes, yet another of the Georgia Tech boys) and Terry L. (who's wearing a great shirt!)
Another pic of Glenn, with Terry and his wife.
Another of the Georgia Tech Boys - Jerry Ray.  JRjr is modeling one of my favorite shirts - from Sarah Masen, of course. :-)
Jerry with Lisa (who's awfully excited about that Fernando Ortega disc!).  Notice, also, Tony and Trish standing behind.
Peter Thomas Chattaway, Andy Forrey and Shari Lloyd enjoy their sandwiches, and conversation.
Jerry and Jeff - laughing about something...  I like this picture. :-)
Matt Laswell, Becky White and Masaki - making their sandwiches.
More BBQ guests, including two people from Becky's church in Austin (Gateway Community Church)- Jeremy and Lisa.
One of the great parts of Cornerstone is the friends you meet.  Here's a picture of me with Jillian, an incredibly cool girl we met at the fest last year - and on the Sixpence list:
(yes, that's my dearest Matt standing behind us... :-)
Another picture of Jillian and Becky
More people at the BBQ.  (Including Ashley from Gateway :-)
A few more people at the BBQ, including Masaki and Josh Spencer.
I like this picture.  I think it captures the spirit of friendship quite well.  Josh Spencer (from Hawaii) and Peter Thomas Chattaway (from Vancouver, B.C) meeting each other.
Here's another incredibly cool guy: Bruce A. Brown.  Thanks for the Crossing shirt! :-)
Shari and Masaki
More miscellaneous bbq people.
The BBQ hostesses sent invites to many discussion lists and newsgroups - here are links to a few of them:

rec.music.christian
the VoL-List
Orphans of God
The Phantom Tollbooth
etc.

Brian and his [um...] "interesting" outfit.  I like the reflections in the glasses - in the shot below, you can see Steve taking the picture.
A few people, including Becky, overlooking the music exchange table.
More greedy people searching through other people's leftovers.  :-)  There was truly a little bit of everything to choose from.
Checking out what Lisa found.
Tidbits:

This year, we didn't get to have any Sprecher Root Beer or special Dr. Pepper.  :-(  But, we did get special European chocolates from James!  Thanks!

Titi watches Linda laugh.
Linda - a multi-talented woman who can give directions with one hand, and pick up the trash with the other. :-)
Peter and Becky.
